The next day included a trip to the notary first. We were asked what would be their new name? Misha wanted to keep the Ukrainin version of his name rather than Americanizing it to Michael and since the "G" in Anna's name isn't really pronounced we decided to drop it. Obviously their surnames would be changed to ours. We had thought that we would keep their middle names as well. We want to preserve as much of their heritage and life before us as possible. Come to find out, though, that this wouldn't be possible. Our coordinator explained later that it is too confusing and can not be done. The middle name is the father's name. We quickly chose new middle names for the children. (In writing this, I'm trying to be careful and not say things that could cause problems. Once the children are officially ours, I will share full names).
We then got to go and visit the children. Gifts today included a Barbie for Anna and Juggling Bean Bags for Misha. These of course became soccer ball for another impromptu soccer game with William and Misha. Anna loved brushing our Barbies hair and putting on her sunglasses. We also brought a deck of cards. Misha tried to teach us a game, but I don't think we really got it. Misha of course kept winning. We taught him Go Fish. He already new how to play War. After our visit, we went shopping for more gifts. I had brought a Paint with Water book for Anna, but had forgotten a brush. We also looked for things that would be of interest for Misha.
From there we were able to finally come to the Internet Club. You must pre-pay for your time. If there is time left over, you will get money back. We used a full hour, but decided to stop after that. It was dinner time and we were hungry. We went to McChicken for fried chicken and then walked home. Time for laundry. We were also given a copy of the children's schedule and typical menu. Our coordinator helped us translate.
We are hoping for a court date of 9/10 - seven days (instead of 7 working days). This would be earlier than normal, but we will pray and hope! We should find out tomorrow.
